Essential Business Social Media Checklist

Filed under:

Once you take the steps to get your business active on Facebook and even allot some hours and creative energy to creating posts, you may still have some questions about how to go about it. After all, it's a total stab in the dark if you don't have a strategy about what you post. And what business has money available for that kind of loose marketing?

Okay, so here are some tips. Use them and prosper!

Get it right. Make sure that what you post is factually correct, clearly understood, and free of typos and other annoying grammar problems.

If you possess a snappy accompanying photo, use it. But don't use a bad photo just to provide a visual. Quality affects your brand, even in the case of social media posts.

Tell your customers/followers about big developments that are in the works. Do you have new products, services, or locations to share? By all means, do so. And while you're at it, throw your users a discount for liking or sharing your news.

And finally, try to post status updates that invite interaction and input. Open-ended questions not only generate comments-they provide great feedback directly from your customer base, the ones most interested in your business. Don't be afraid to ask what people like or don't like. Is there a service you've removed that people want you to bring back again?

Social media should give you a real-time pulse on who your customers are and what they want. Use it to your advantage and help your business grow!
