Downtown, Area Parks Offer Summer Music Fun in Lexington

Filed under:

Periodically, we like to allot some blog space to the happenings going on around our town-Lexington. We love it here, and we love promoting some of the things we like to do when we're not running Trifecta.

The weather is heating up, and it's time to get out and enjoy some evening music around town. At the hot, low price of FREE, it won't break your budget, either, so file your excuses in the bottom drawer and get out there.

On Tuesdays, you have a couple of different ways to go, depending on your genre preference. For some traditional KY fun, catch some good ol' bluegrass music at The Southland Jamboree, which takes place at 7:00 PM right next to Collins Bowling Alley on Southland Drive. The series runs through September 4th, so grab your lawn chair and picnic blanket and head on over there.

If bluegrass isn't your thing, fear not. Check out Big Band & Jazz instead. With three more Tuesdays set for the Beaumont Amphitheatre, BB&J will move back to its more traditional home at Ecton Park for the rest of the summer. Music lasts from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM, and (as with all of these outdoor music series) a new band plays each week.

Thursday Night Live runs through October 18th and provides a nice kickstart to your weekend activities. The 4:30 PM early start time may not work for everyone, but it carries on until 7:30 PM, allowing most folks enough time to get home from work and scoop up the kids and dogs. If you go this week, plan to have dinner, too, as Hardwood Pizza will be amongst the delectable culinary options available to Lexington's hungry masses.
