Record store. CD store. Music store. Call it what you will, but please do take time to contemplate the fact that Lexington still has an independent retail space dedicated to local, national, and international music. And one cool thing about having a local business like CD Central is that periodically you get in-store parties, like the one coming up this Labor Day.
Live music is planned, including sets by Asylum Gypsies Surf Band (noon), Ellie Herring (1pm), and Nativity Singers (2pm). Food for hungry tummies also will be available from the Fork in the Road Mobile Galley. (I just had their fried zucchini at last weekend's Chevy Chase Street Fair, and it was excellent. They had Cubano sandwiches, as well, that looked totally swell and lots of other tempting offerings.)
And don't forget the sale. CD Central is marking tons of CDs and vinyl for clearance and only asking for a buck ($1) in return. There will be giveaways, too. You never know what they may decide to give you, right? So there you have it-one top-notch, legit Labor Day activity, complete with all of the indie music, food, and shopping opportunities your little heart desires. See you there?
